Sewer Repair & Replacement in Birmingham
Affordable Solutions Available 24/7
Although it often remains out of sight and out of mind, your sewer system plays a large role in your safety and the effectiveness of your overall plumbing. When it is working properly, your sewer line is responsible for diverting wastewater away from your home. You use your toilet, sink, and shower or tub at least once a day, not to mention all of your other plumbing appliances and fixtures. Due to their frequent use and all that you are flushing down your drains (soap, water, food scraps, waste), it’s not uncommon for your sewer line to experience clogs, cracks, corrosion, or other issues. Fortunately, the plumbers at Wilbur’s Air Conditioning, Heating, & Plumbing are well equipped to handle all of your sewer repair and replacement needs in Birmingham. We have over 40 years of experience and are proud to have become a staple of our community.
Our Non-Invasive Repair & Replacement Methods
It used to be that in order to access your sewer line, plumbers would have to perform costly excavation in your yard. This not only made the front of your home a complete eyesore in the neighborhood, but it also took longer to both diagnose the issue and perform the needed fix.
Fortunately, we don’t have to result to such invasive methods anymore. At Wilbur’s Air Conditioning, Heating, & Plumbing, we are happy to offer trenchless sewer repair and replacement in Birmingham. Rather than digging up your entire yard, our experienced plumbers are able to access your sewer line through a minimal entry point. From there, we will assess the condition of the pipe (typically using a high definition camera to inspect) and determine whether pipe lining or pipe bursting would better suit you.
If we’ve found that your pipe has remained intact and there are no disjointed sections, we will resort to pipe lining. During this method, our plumbers will begin by digging a small access pit from which we feed a flexible, resin-coated tube through your existing sewer line. Once it’s been fully inserted, we blow compressed air to inflate the tube. When the lining hardens, it is as strong as heavy-duty PVC pipe. This then takes the place of your damaged sewer line.
In the unfortunate circumstance that your sewer line is beyond repair, we offer pipe bursting as a non-invasive replacement method. Unlike traditional replacement methods, this can be completed in as short as a few hours! Your existing sewer line acts as a guide for us to feed a replacement pipe line that is attached to a large diameter cone-shaped head. As we continue to feed the replacement pipe line through, the size of the conical tip is larger than your existing pipe and it bursts the damaged pipe apart, leaving room for the replacement line to take its place. We then remove the remaining parts of your damaged sewer line with a pull rod or hydraulic machine.
